SIP Broker

SIP Broker can be configured using a multiple proxy setup. To use this method, your SIP phone must support multiple proxies.

For the purposes of demonstration, we have chosen to use the excellent softphone X-Lite (free download at www.xten.com).

Setup Steps:

1. Setup your SIP phone according to your provider's instructions.
2. Go into your phone's setup menu.
3. Select "System Settings"

   

4. Select "SIP Proxy"
5. A list of your configured proxies will be displayed. Your provider proxy settings will usually be under the [Default] proxy. Select one of the empty proxy slots to be used for SIP Broker.

   

6. Configure the following fields. Pay particular attention to the fields in bold:

   Enabled: Yes
   Display Name: <as per your provider setup>
   Username: <as per your provider setup>
   Authorization User: <as per your provider setup>
   Password: <your sipbroker.com password>
   Domain/Realm: <your providers proxy server>
   SIP Proxy: sipbroker.com
   Register: Never
   Dial Prefix: #1 (can be any valid prefix. Used to tell your phone that the call is to be routed via SIP Broker)

   Example:

   Let's say your sip URI is OZtell 89906012345@sip.oztralia.com. You would then setup:
   
   Display Name: 89906012345
   Username: 89906012345
   Authorization User: 89906012345
   Password: your SIP Broker password
   Domain/Realm: sip.oztralia.com
   SIP Proxy: sipbroker.com
   Register: Never
   Dial Prefix: #1

   Note: It is important to use your provider details as outlined above, as SIP Broker uses this information to authorize your call.

7. Congratulations, you have completed the initial setup of your phone. To test your setup, simply call:

   <dial prefix>-*011-1-88888 e.g. #1-*011-1-88888.

   You should hear the SIP Broker announcement. If you don't, re-check the above settings. In the event that you are still having difficulties, please consult our Support Forum.

8. You are now ready to dial and receive calls.
